Iowa

We timed this trip perfectly for the polar vortex😑

It was bitter cold. We're talking -40° windchill! Needless to say, we spent no time outdoors other than running from the car to the house. However, we did get lots of family time! We cuddled baby Olivia and baby Morgan and played with Mira and Elena💛 Evie loved every minute with her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We tried a few new restaurants. Brady and I even got to have a gym/brunch date while Nana watched Evie🙌 I can totally see the benefit of living close to family! The next trip will be definitely be timed for better weather.

Post-Op

Hip surgery #2 ✔

I had to take my crutches out of the closet again. I realized I've been on crutches three times in the past three years. Fingers-crossed this is the last time.

I'm struggling to find things to do... Amanda got me a label maker, which I've already put to good use! I actually had this label maker sitting in my Amazon cart and I thought Brady had mistakenly ordered it 😂 She knows me so well! I'm also binge-watching Netflix and Amazon Prime. Any recommendations?? I'm still watching The Americans. I've gotten back into The Office and Schitt's Creek. I watched The Hundred-Foot Journey and loved it.

I made a few online purchases... another AQUA cashmere sweater (I'm addicted), another pair of Boosts (again, addicted), and an iPad. I better stop now or Brady will start asking questions when deliveries appear at the front door.

Homebound!

We're heading back to Iowa!

Brie had her baby last week🙌 We need to go cuddle Olivia Marie!

Evie is obsessed with babies. She asks for "baby sissy" (baby Lucy) about 20 times a week and she carries three baby dolls and a stuffed elmo all over the house. Although, I am curious to see how she reacts to a newborn. I know she will be in heaven playing with Mira, Elena, and all their toys😂

The only downside will be the weather... I've acclimated to PNW winters. I don't think I can handle below freezing temps anymore. Brady and I realized we don't even own winter coats anymore lol.

Good Stuff

GloPRO was a Black Friday purchase after my sister and co-worker raved about it. I can't tell if it's had an impact on my skin, but I like to think it has. I really like the ritual of microneedling every night. Evie says "owie" every time I use it😂 The other skincare standout has been Drunk Elephant Babyfacial. I can see a difference in my skin immediately! It's so much softer and smoother. I look forward to using this mask every week.

Cuyana Tall Structured Tote is a classic. The quality is incredible. I've used it every single day for the past two months. It's my diaper bag and work bag. I stuff this full of folders, diapers, snacks, water bottles, coffee. It's definitely a Mary Poppins bag and doesn't have any signs of wear. I'm so tempted to get this shorter version.

Core 10 Crop Leggings are so good, but difficult to photograph. They fit and feel just like Lululemon Wunder Under. I used to be exclusive with the Lululemon Align leggings, but they aren't very durable. I've had three pairs and all of them ended up shredded with lose threads. To be fair, most of that was related to Evie standing on my lap with sneakers on. I love these Amazon leggings so much and they're only $45. However, when I bought them a couple months ago they were $30... I'm going to see if the price goes back down and order a second pair!

Back Pedal Brew by Middle Fork Roasters is the best coffee I've had in awhile. I'm terrible at describing flavors of coffee and I hate when baristas ask me what blends/origins I prefer. I don't know! I just know what I like and don't like. Their website describes this as a medium roast combining Brazilian and Sumatran beans with rich chocolate undertones.

Weekend Update

We had a great weekend at home.

We went to Seattle on Saturday for brunch and shopping. We ate at Serious Pie & Biscuit, which was delicious! Bloody Mary's and coffee are the best way to start the weekend👌 Evie did so well on this trip. We're starting to turn a corner... she's getting a bit easier with every restaurant and shop we visit.

Sunday was a chill day at home. We meal-prepped, cleaned, played at the park. Evie filled her pockets with rocks and told me it was money😂 she's definitely starting to develop an imagination.

Weekend Update

This was a rough birthday. Thirty is not treating me well...

I was sick all weekend. I don't know what happened to my immune system, but I had a terrible virus in November, December and now January. I started feeling better on Monday, but I have absolutely nothing to show for this weekend. The weather was amazing, which makes it even worse. The only thing I accomplished was binge-watching The Americans.
