Friday Harbor, San Juan Islands

I went to Friday Harbor with my parents at the end of April for a few days. Brady and Evie were in Iowa during this trip. I wish they could have been there, but I know we'll go back. The trip was amazing...

We took the ferry from Anacortes. The ferry ride alone was incredible. On the ride back to Anacortes, the ferry had to stop because a whale was breaching near us for 10 minutes. It was amazing. We went on a whale-watching tour the first day and saw the entire J pod (which has 25 orcas)! We also saw several bald eagles and sea lions.

Dad and I rented a scoot coupe and took a tour of the entire island. It was such a cool way to see the sights! There were several lighthouses, the old American and British camps, and we had lunch at Roche Harbor. The lavender fields weren't in bloom yet, but I want to go back mid-summer for that sight/smell.

Downtown Friday Harbor is really cute - full of restaurants and shops. We ate great seafood and enjoyed happy hours while admiring the views.
