Life Lately

Sorry for the unexplained absence last week. It's usually safe to assume it's related to my hip😒 I never feel like blogging when it's really bothering me.

So far, the PRP injection has not helped. It's only been three weeks so I'm still hopeful. My ortho scheduled another surgery for the beginning of January. If I respond to PRP within the next month then we'll cancel the surgery. Fingers crossed!!

Here are the highlights from my camera roll the past couple weeks...
 Evie in Newport, OR
 Look at that happy face!
She's always so happy to spend time with Nana and Grandpa
Evie went to an ISU basketball game vs Oregon State
 My girl💛
I love Evie's face in this pic
Evie knew I was feeling down this weekend... she gave me extra cuddles
 Reading books before bed
Brady constantly has her flying through the air
Ready to blast off lol

Current Hair Care

I shower at night and go to bed with damp hair so you'll notice I don't use a hair dryer on a regular basis. I have fairly thick, fine hair. Here's what's working for me lately...
I wash my hair with this Aveda shampoo and conditioner. It was recommended by my hairstylist and I love it! My hair feels clean, but not weighed down. I use the DPHue blonde shampoo weekly.

After the sower, I spray Bumble & Bumble primer into my hands then run my fingers through the midlengths and ends. I wrap my hair in the Aquis turban for 10 minutes while I brush my teeth and do my skincare routine. Then, I brush my hair with the Wet Brush Pro. This little trio (primer, turban, brush) has made such a difference with my hair! It so much more silky and smooth. It requires very little effort in the morning now.

When I wake up, I quickly straighten or curl my hair then add Oribe dry shampoo and/or texture spray to finish the style. I also really like the Batiste dry shampoo and Ouai texture spray, which are way more affordable.

Current Body Care

After sharing my make-up and skincare routines in September, I thought I would finish it off with body and hair (which will be posted tomorrow). I love skincare so much (face and body). I actually think of it like a hobby😂 I would 100% recommend all of these items. Here's the current routine in order of use...
I got the Kiehl's grapefruit body wash in the Nordstrom sale and I love it! It smells so good and lasts forever! I recently switched from a loofah to this this silicone brush. It works just as well, lathers great, and hopefully isn't harboring bacteria.

I'm obsessed with my Billie razor. I change the razor head weekly and I'm legs stay so much smoother. I used to shave my legs daily because I hate the feeling of stubble on my pants, but now I can shave every other day. I got my sister a year subscription for her birthday.

Dry brushing is something I've gotten back into. I'll be good for awhile then stop for a couple months. I haven't seen a noticeable difference, but I like the ritual and routine of it. I feel like I'm doing something good for my body.

Burt's Bees body oil is either used in the shower or after dry brushing. I change it up. It's incredibly hydrating and smells like lemons. I really like lots of moisture on my body after exfoliating with shaving and dry brushing.

CeraVe moisturizer is applied morning and night. This is apart of my Amazon subscription so it's delivered every month. Evie and I both use it. I like that it's thick and unscented. I always look for body butters in jars because I like to use it all and not have to work with a pump and storing it upside down.

Tan Luxe The Body oil is the self-tanner I add to my body lotion. It gives a nice, even color. I also add it to my face moisturizer. I only use it 2-3 times a week to maintain a really mild tan.

Donna Karen Cashmere Mist deodorant is expensive, but it smells so good and works really well! I've tried natural deodorants, but I need an anti-perspirant.  This one works all day (I apply at night) and the stick lasts several months.

New (To Me)

I saw this recipe on Somewhere, Lately's instagram story last week. I tried it the next day. I made it again yesterday. It's so easy and delicious. Brady even ate it. It's just sausage, shredded Brussels sprouts, chopped peppers, and sweet chili sauce. Yum!
I've added a few items into my skincare routine. I just started using this SkinCeuticals retinol and Embryolisse moisturizer. I can only use the retinol a couple times a week because it's so drying, but this Embryolisse cream is nice and thick so I apply it over the retinol and it's really soothing.
Adidas Ultraboost have been my favorite for years. I haven't deviated from this style in four years. I've turned Brady onto them as well. I just got this pair of Ultraboost 19 and I love the color. They are a men's size 7 and I'm a women's size 8.5.
Trader Joe's Puffins PB cereal tastes just like PB Cap'n Crunch which is one of my all time favorite cereals! I was really hesitant to try any Trader Joe's cereal because cereal is my favorite food and I'm very brand loyal (to Cap'n Crunch and Lucky Charms😂).
Aquaphor in stick form!! My mind is blown! I've been using Aquaphor for years as my lip balm and under my eyes at night. It bothers me to use my finger to apply lip balm in public, but it was worth it for Aquaphor. I don't know if the stick form is actually new, but it's literally THE BEST.
Bada Bean Bada Boom is my favorite healthy snack. I take this to work every day with berries and string cheese for my snacks. My co-workers like them too. They taste delicious and I don't feel guilty eating them. Sweet Sriracha is my favorite flavor!

Weekend Update

The next few weekends are going to be busy and my hip is quite painful after my PRP injection last week. Plus, Brady and I have been battling a cold for over a week so we used this weekend for R&R.

We went trick-or-treating with Evie's friends on Thursday night. The girls had a blast! Evie was in her element. She ran to each house yelling "trick-or-treat" and "thank you!" She was so excited. It was difficult to wind her down for bed after all that fun and sugar.

We've gotten into a weekend routine of gym time, park time, grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. Brady takes Evie to the YMCA in the mornings. She goes to the childwatch room and plays while Brady works out. I get to start my morning nice and slow at home😊 I'm very grateful for this time! Evie loves the grocery store so much I cannot go without her. It takes twice as long when she's with me, but it gives Brady some chill time and Evie gets to push the cart so everyone is happy. We had great weather this weekend so we stayed outside a bit longer to have fun with sidewalk chalk and paint.
 Four best friends
 They held hands all night
Some of the houses really went all out with the decorations. This was a little too scary for the girls.
 Sharing suckers lol
Saturday snuggles
We're artists 😂
