Weekend Update

We went to Leavenworth with Brady's parents and it was stunning.

We lucked out with the weather! It was 60° and sunny the entire weekend. We arrived on Friday afternoon and immediately went outside for a walk through the park. Our walk ended at a brewery (surprise, surprise). We strolled main street - eating, drinking, and shopping.

Brady and Brice went golfing on Saturday. Ann, Evie and I went downtown for a bit more shopping, eating, and drinking. We sat outside soaking up sunshine and wandered around the downtown area. It was so nice and relaxing. We met up with the guys for dinner and drinks.

We hiked the Icicle Gorge Loop on Sunday. The sun was shining. The views were breathtaking. Plus, it was stroller-friendly! Brady and I were enamored. We've been talking about living in the mountains since this hike.

Weekend Update

It was a cold, rainy weekend week.

We spent most of the weekend cozied up at home. Unfortunately, I can't use the fireplace anymore😞 the glass gets too hot and Evie is drawn to the flames. I have to settle for fuzzy socks, warm blankets, and lots of burning candles. I watched chick flicks, deep cleaned the condo and purged my closet. It was great.

There were a few breaks from the rain so we were able to walk Evie. The autumn colors are stunning. I've never taken so many photos during our walks.

Friday

Here's what the week has looked like...
I placed three Amazon orders this week😳 I think that's a record for me. It started with restocking our chia seeds and honey. Then, I spent Monday with Evie and watched her crawl all over the condo. I frantically ordered baby-proofing supplies. Then, I realized Evie needed a few more things. I ordered this mesh feeder, which is a total mess (photo above)! I also thought it might be time to introduce a sippy cup so I read some reviews and ordered these. I also realized we weren't brushing her teeth so I got this toothbrush/teether.

I've been in a book slump since finishing Commonwealth. I'm currently re-reading The Paris Wife. I read this book years ago (when I lived in Iowa). I loved it so much I kept it on my nightstand to read again. It's a great book, but I want something new. I've been searching Target and the Powell's Books website for recommendations. I'm intrigued by this book, especially since the protagonist is named Evie!

We've been consumed by wanderlust lately. Hawaii was too long ago and the weather has been awful this week - storms every day since Tuesday😒 We need to plan a Thanksgiving trip. Last year we went to Victoria, B.C. (post linked here). I would love to go back (and eat at Jam Cafe everyday)! We ordered Evie's passport two weeks ago so hopefully it arrives in time and Canada is still an option.

I just watched the Demi Lovato documentary - highly recommend!

Eight Months

So many changes in the past month...
First, crawling is advancing. It's a mix between a real crawl and an army crawl. She gets on her knees, but not on her hands. Her butt is always in the air and it's so cute. She can get around quickly and crawl much further. I left her in the living room yesterday. Two minutes later I found her in the laundry room (all the way across our dining room/kitchen). She's a little explorer. She's curious about everything - especially outlets, door stops, carbon monoxide detector and anything else at her eye level.

Second, we're progressing to fork-mashed foods. She's been eating purees three times a day for the past two months. She's ready for thicker consistencies. She's had mashed avocado, sweet potatoes, bananas and a few pieces of toast (with butter). We have tried letting her feed herself, but she's still a little confused. She's gotten used to us spoon-feeding her. I just bought this feeder, but it hasn't arrived yet.

Third, teething has been a nightmare this past month. Evie had four top teeth break through within a few weeks. She was a trooper, but there were some really fussy days. I was emotional when she got her first two bottom teeth (at four months), but now I just want them all in. I want to be done with teething. Wishful thinking.

Fourth, we've regressed with sleep training. Is seven-month sleep regression real or is it just my baby? I blame Hawaii or all the new teeth. When we were in Hawaii she woke up twice every night. She got back on track when we returned home, but that only lasted a few days. She quickly went back to waking up twice and it's a been month of this! I'm desperate for a full night of sleep. I've gotten weak and now I always nurse her when she wakes.

She's not interested in standing right now, but she's starting to pull herself up on her little chair and our pouf. She become much more vocal. There are new sounds daily. Lately she's been making a rolling 'r' sound, loud shrieks, and a dog noise lol. She's been saying "dadadada" a lot, but not in reference to Brady.

Outdoors is the most comforting place for Evie. Anytime she's crying or fussy I'll take her out on the patio and we'll watch cars/people. We've also been going on tons of walks. She stops crying the moment she's moving in the stroller. Evie is also becoming a music-lover. I always have music playing and she's started to excited and move around to the beat. She lights up when we start clapping to the music.

Weekend Update

A quiet weekend at home was just what I needed. I've been battling a cold for over a week. I'm finally feeling better.

Brady and I have gotten back into cooking together. We did this nearly every weekend during my maternity leave. It makes me nostalgic for the newborn days. We made glazed chicken and roasted brussels sprouts. The best part was the apple crisp for dessert!
Dinner, dessert, and wine in drinking glasses
I was able to run a few errands on Saturday, but that was only time I left the house. Except for walks... lots of walks. We've gotten into a habit of three walks a day on weekends. Evie loves it.
