Weekend Update

Worked on my walk this weekend. Exciting times.

I'm finally allowed to put weight on my right leg. My mom and I got out of the house each day to walk. We went to the park on Saturday and tried the mall on Sunday, but it was too busy. We spent the rest of the weekend browsing Netflix, reading books, watching the Oscars.
Down to one crutch for short walks
Mom lapped me about 4 times

Just Keep Swimming

The past two weeks have been difficult.

I was relieved when the doctor first told me it was a hip dislocation (details here). I honestly thought I would be fine once it was popped back in place. I was unfamiliar with this type of injury (and the complications). I wasn't mentally prepared to be so physically limited. I've been dependent on others for daily activities which used to be mindless... driving, showering, getting dressed. It's been a struggle to stay positive, but each day is getting better and I'm so grateful to have an amazing support system! My family, friends, co-workers have been incredibly kind and generous.
My mom arrived Monday just in time for Brady to return to work. She's got me out of the house for the first time in 10 days. Sitting by the Puget Sound does the body good...
James Bay is also pulling me through. Chaos and the Calm is a great album. It's not new, I just never gave it a chance. I previewed it last summer and didn't like it, but now I have it on repeat. Funny how time changes things like that.
My mom got me tulips. My in-laws got me coloring books and candy. I can't believe how obsessive I've become with these flowers and coloring books. My mom keeps saying "quiet times in life make you see things differently."
The ortho said it would a year before I was back to normal. My dad said I have to prove her wrong :) I certainly hope I can...

Sneakers

My injury isn't leaving me with many footwear options. Sadly, I'm not as coordinated as I thought I was. Crutches serving up some humble pie the past two weeks. Sneakers have become a necessity and I'm ok with that.

Here's what you'll find me wearing the next couple months...
 Adidas Ultra Boost
Nike Kaishi

It's taking a lot of self-control to avoid ordering this APL pair.

Weekend Update

I've been putting off writing this post because it's a weekend I don't want to relive. I get anxious and nauseous every time I tell the story of my ski accident so hopefully this will be the last time.

We drove to Bend, OR on Friday night. It was a very long drive... I think it ended up being six hours. We were exhausted when we got to the hotel and pretty much went straight to bed.

We woke up Saturday morning and wandered around town with our coffees. It was a beautiful, blue-sky morning.
Prefect morning
Mountaintop in the distance
We returned to the hotel, gathered our ski gear, and headed to Mt. Bachelor. The conditions were not ideal. The summit was closed due to strong winds. The runs on the east side of the mountain were extremely icy (no fresh snow for two weeks) and the runs on the west side
had crazy long lift lines. We ended up spending more time on the east just to avoid the lines.
Suit up
Bye blue sky
Love PNW scenery
We did a lot of blue runs for me and went into the ski park a couple times for Brady. It was the ski park that gave me trouble. I went through the large ski park with no problems. Later in the afternoon we went through the smaller ski park. I (unintentionally) got a lot of air and landed very badly. I don't really remember much other than panicking mid-air and knowing it wasn't going to end well.

Sure enough, I dislocated my right hip. We spent the remainder of the night at the ski resort clinic, in an ambulance, then finally ended it at the local hospital. I had my hip reduced back into place and I'm non-weight bearing for two weeks...

Coveting

1 | MCM Small Trifold Wallet has been on my radar for a couple months. It's a great size. Very compact, but lots of card slots and pockets to hold all my junk. Plus, the orange interior is so fun!
2 | French Press needs to happen. I use our Keurig everyday, but I prefer french press. I blame The Twisted Fork- it was the first place I had it and now I'm hooked. I also want to start making cold brew coffee!
3 | Aviators are a wardrobe staple and somehow I don't own a pair. I'm already getting into Spring/Summer mindset- I'm ready to buy swimsuits, sandals, and sunglasses :) I know, jumping the gun a bit.
4 | Adidas Ultra Boost were just ordered while writing this post. I love this style! Reminds me of a pair I had in 5th grade :) They're a bit pricey, but so sleek and look super comfortable. I'm excited.

Weekend Update

We had another chilled out weekend at home.

We intended to stay in on Friday night. We walked to Stadium Thriftway to get snacks for a movie night, but when we got there we couldn't find anything that sounded good. We walked around the neighborhood before stumbling across a new restaurant, Indo. The food and atmosphere were amazing! We'll definitely be back.
Spring rolls
Brady's dinner... kimchi bowl. He loves anything with kimchi
We spent Saturday exploring West Seattle. Brady had been carrying on about Marination Ma Kai since we were last there five months ago. We ate lunch, went for a walk, and browsed the downtown shops/bakeries. We ended the day at Brent and Molly's for dinner and game night.
Perfect location
Lunchtime
Seattle skyline
 A popular dive site
Clouds lifting to give us a view of the Olympics
